Pro BJJ Events are Back
Pro BJJ and Fight To Win Returns in Dallas
Fight to win after a more than two month hiatus from events returned in spectacular fashion, putting on two events, on back to back evenings in Dallas TX. Fight to Win 139, and 140 showcased that professional BJJ can return and that athletes are ready to compete. Listen to the event recap on Grappling Rewind Podcast 132.
With professional BJJ events being announced for the month of May; below is a rundown of all the pro events that have been announced since the easing of lockdown regulations.
After the successful completion of Fight to Win 139 and 140 in Dallas, Texas, Fight to Win 141 returns to Dallas this weekend. Seth Daniels CEO for the promotion said in an interview that since Dallas has relaxed its lockdown and the city is allowing the promotion to run events in limited capacity at this time. With the success of this weekends back to back cards F2W has announced plans to continue to run events in Dallas for the next 2 weeks with 3 cards scheduled at this time.
Fight to Win 141
F2W 141 scheduled for 5/23/202 is headlined by former Bellator middleweight champion Raphael Lovato Jr who until recently also held the F2W title at light heavyweight. With Yuri Simoes now out recovering from an injury Lovato looks to reclaim the now vacant Light heavyweight title against Arnaldo Maidana.
Co-Main action for F2W 141 is between Edwin Najmi and Former WEC, and UFC Lightweight champ Benson Henderson.
The following weekend F2W is in Dallas again on 5/29/2020, and 5/30/2020 for F2W 142, and 143, again being run on back to back nights. These cards do not have main or co-main event fighters lined up at the moment, but should be announced in the coming week. Remaining May Pro BJJ Events
Ending May with more big events Spyder Korea Road To Black Belt and Submission Underground (SUG) 14 have both been announced for 5/31/2020.
Spyder Korea looks to showcase up and coming colored belts -65 kg ahead of their invitational typically scheduled later in the year. Below is a graphic released by the promotion ahead of the card. Spyder looks to showcase the best IBJJF style BJJ with an emphasis on showcasing the growing BJJ talent in the quickly expanding Korean BJJ Scene.
Submission Underground (SUG) 14 also scheduled for May 31st features a rematch of an EBI 11 Semi Final matchup between Vagner Rocha and Craig Jones. Also on the card is Roberto Jimenez fresh off his co-main event showing at F2W 140 the new black belt has wasted no time competing as frequently as he can. Quickly entering the world rankings a month into earning his black belt.
June BJJ Events Announced
Into June we see the scheduled return of Fight to Win with back to back cards once again announced for Austin TX on 6/5/2020, and 6/6/2020 for F2W 144, and 145. As of now no headliners have been announced for these cards.
Third Coast Grappling Returns
Third Coast Grappling has announced a number of Kumite style events for June that will run with limited audience. The first Kumite event will be on 6/6/2020 and will be an -180 Gi tournament with superfights to round out the card. The full bracket for this event is below. This will be a winner takes all $10,000 bracket that features some of the biggest up and comers and former world champions looking to take the prize. JitzKing Returns
The Florida based promotion has announced a $5000 16 man under 185 pound bracket scheduled for 6/13/2020. The full bracket has not been released as of this article being released, but Grappling Rewind will do a full preview of the card and athletes on the Grappling Rewind Podcast that precedes the card.
